European Commission has approved the use of mobile phones on planes flying in European airspace. Mobiles can be used when planes reach an altitude of 3000m or more.
Though airlines can decide on the services that will be offered, European Aviation Safety Agency has to approve the hardwares that will be installed in the aircraft for mobile communication. Mobile equipments need to be switched off once the aircraft crosses European borders.
The recently revealed patent from Nokia unveils complany’s plans for integrating a new gesture control technology S60 Touch that will allow users to control a device without even touching it.
The new technology is based on Ultrasonic Transducers (USTs) set around the perimeter of the device, which would create a 3D gesture touchless interface, a perfect alternative to the iPhone’s multi-touch screen.
Sounds very intriguing, but that’s all we know for now.
